Through the years at St. John’s there have been some legendary “pranks” pulled on students and staff alike. From kitchen raids, and dorm raids to April Fools tricks and classroom pranks. Behind these were always “partners in crime”. Who was your partner, and what were some of the best pranks that you can remember. Send us you stories.
“All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players:
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts” William Shakespeare
Through the years at St. John’s many dramatic productions were presented. Some funny, some serious, but all were creations that required a great deal of time and energy to finally get to the stage.
The staff and students poured their hearts and souls into the work. All those in attendance, for any one of the many plays, were always surprised to see the talent and dedication shown by the group.
Submit your memories of the plays put on by the school. (Click on the title and scroll to the box for your submission). We want to hear your stories.
Spring is finally here, and with it comes our favourite pest – mosquitoes! Each spring the students at St. John’s began their training for canoe trips. Along with the work involved in preparing for portaging and paddling; there was the job of “making peace” with the bugs.
Share your stories of how you dealt with the onslaught of mosquitoes each spring.
For those who have attended a boarding school – you understand what special bonds can be formed through the shared experiences. At St. John’s, these bonds can be even stronger because the experiences shared were so unique… the honey sales, dorm life, weekends in town, ski trips, canoe trips…
Share with us your story of those special friendships that have lasted through time … grown men who still call each other just to touch base and remember being young again.

A good portion of life at St. John’s included crew work for the students. For some this was the first time they had operated a vacuum or dishwasher, or had to feed horses and dogs on a large scale.
There are stories of great crew leaders, and of not so great crew leaders; and stories of some interesting times on crew. What was your favourite crew? Send us your memories of working on crew duty.
Each spring brought with it – honey sales. Whether you loved it or hated it; you had to go out each weekend to sell honey in Calgary, Edmonton and for the other St. John’s schools; in Toronto or Winnipeg.
Not everyone was a great salesman, but you all had to learn to make the sales pitch, to sell the product and along with that, sell yourself to make an impression on the customer. We have heard that this skill has carried many an alumnus through his chosen career.
Send us your memories of honey sales – no doubt there are some great stories out there!
The sound of the paddle and the sight of the “warrior” canoe are familiar to all St. John’s students. As you view this video - flash back to your time in the canoe; send us your memories.
